Forty-Eight
We say that they are just now catching up with Restore the Republic. RTR has been dissatisfied since the New Hampshire primary!
Wouldn't it be hilarious if somehow (I have no idea how in our current made-for-TV scripted conventions) that both conventions voted for an entirely new nominee?
I'd be OK with a race that pitted Al Gore against Jack Bauer.

Double Digit Doubts
“UTICA, New York – Democrat Barack Obama has sprinted out to a 10-point lead over Republican John McCain in a four-way presidential contest including Libertarian Bob Barr and Liberal Ralph Nader, the latest Reuters/Zogby telephone poll of likely voters nationwide shows.”
Obama leads 47% to 37% nationwide according to the poll. He leads in every region except the Midwest where the race is currently a dead heat. He leads in every age group except voters over 65 years of age.
Of course, Restore the Republic said months ago that it did not bode well for the general election that McCain was consistently declared ‘the winner’ in GOP primaries where he only got 30 - 40% of the vote. He is a GOP nominee that couldn’t get the majority of his own party’s votes in states where he was contested. No wonder he can do no better when the Democrat voters are thrown into the mix.

Parrot Sense
Police rescued the African grey parrot two weeks ago from a neighbor's roof in the city of Nagareyama, near Tokyo. After spending a night at the station, he was transferred to a nearby veterinary hospital while police searched for clues, local policeman Shinjiro Uemura said.
He kept mum with the cops, but began chatting after a few days with the vet.
"I'm Mr. Yosuke Nakamura," the bird told the veterinarian, according to Uemura. The parrot also provided his full home address, down to the street number, and even entertained the hospital staff by singing songs.
"We checked the address, and what do you know, a Nakamura family really lived there. So we told them we've found Yosuke," Uemura said.
Now, there is one smart parrot. Let's just hope that someone taught the Republican Party its name and address. Then maybe some sympathetic soul can help it find its way home!Monday, May 19, 2008
Who would have known
McCain 77 percent
Ron Paul 16 percent
Huckabee 11 percent
Yep, your GOP nominee is yet again unable to garner even 80% of the vote in his own party - running against people who are not running!
Oh yes, and there is that ornery Ron Paul finishing second, ahead of the GOP nominee of 2012.
But who would have known?

Surfaced
Today, Mike Huckabee said this on NBC, "There's no one I would rather be on a ticket with than John McCain."
He said that during his unsuccessful primary campaign against McCain, "there was no one who was more complimentary of him publicly and privately" than himself.
"But whether or not I do the best for him, that's something that only he can decide," added Huckabee, 52.
"I'm going to support him because I think he's the right person for America. I think he has the kind of seasoning and maturity that this country needs."
The previous material is from Newsmax.com but also reported widely elsewhere.
Now, was it Woody who predicted on this blog on May 14 that previously submerged Huckabee was about to surface?

Double or Nothing
The Lead Up --- Obama now has Edwards, the southern populist, at his side and grabbing the headlines.
The Prediction ---- McCain will trot out Huckabee at a campaign stop very soon.

Still Faux Free
Thanks to my Fox-Fast, my cholesterol is down, my blood pressure is lower, I have energy and stamina like never before, excess pounds are melting away, my income has tripled, my debts have been eliminated, the wrinkles around my eyes have disappeared, Hollywood starlets are texting me, OPEC is giving me free gasoline for life, and Google called to say that they would rather sell to me than Yahoo.
Thanks to Fox-Fast, life is better than ever -- except that Barbara Walters wants a date.

Forget the "R"
So, let's get this straight - the Republican nominee wants to 'rise above' being a Republican?
But it was me who 'threw away' his vote by voting Ron Paul?

One Happy Family
When Hillary gave her 'victory' speech here in Indiana, there was Slick right behind her and to the side was beaming Chelsea. As I watched them, I had three thoughts:
1. Bill's face looks really red.
2. Chelsea is being positioned as the next generation Clinton candidate.
3. Politics and raw ambition are apparently stronger motivations than faith and forgiveness. Most church folks in their situation would be divorced.

The Fork
She lost in a landslide in North Carolina.
She won by a razor-thin margin of 20K votes of 1.2 million cast in Indiana.
She had to win Indiana convincingly. By that standard, her 'win' was really a 'loss.'
Now it comes out that she has loaned her own campaign 6.4 million dollars. As we saw with Romney, once a candidate is self-funding a campaign, it's done.
Will the press call for her exit as they did with Huckabee? I doubt it. Will the Clinton family fund another few million to continue on the path to defeat? I doubt it. Last night in Indiana, she used the dreaded phrase: "whatever happens." She can no longer control the outcome. She can only control her end game, her exit strategy. Her money and her political future are now on the line. It will be interesting to see if she will preserve either.
I predict that her campaign will officially end by this weekend.

It is funny to me that many have said that voting for Ron Paul is 'throwing your vote away.'
Is it more of a throw away than a vote for any of the three 'front-runners?' It seems that most everyone is now discouraged with the choices that we have in the fall.
My vote counted as a protest against the Republican front-runner. In fact, John McCain could not even get 80% of the vote in a traditionally Republican stronghold where he was running effectively unopposed. What does that say about November?
My vote counted as a vote for a sensible monetary policy, a sane foreign policy and securing our civil liberties here at home.
Moreover, a large number of people committed to liberty, prosperity and peace won in various local races across the state. The effects of those wins will become more apparent in the days ahead.
The revolution lives in Indiana!

Voted Once

Yes, Indiana can
Hillary is leading according to four of five major polls. Only Zogby has Obama leading.
If Hillary wins Indiana then it will really change nothing. Obama will win North Carolina convincingly. By Tuesday night, they will have each won another state and nothing will be changed. The current struggle will simply move on down the road.
Indiana is not a swing state - a battleground state - in the general election. Winning the democratic primary here will prove nothing for either candidate. That’s why a Hillary win will be so hollow. It’s not a state that she can win in November, it’s simply an excuse to continue her campaign.
If Obama wins Indiana then the race for the nomination is over. That’s why Indiana only has significance if he wins. Indiana will have essentially broken the deadlock and given the nomination to Obama.

Democrats Pray
Hoosier Switch
The campaign said Andrew would appear at a 10 a.m. press conference at its state headquarters in Indianapolis, then join campaign manager David Plouffe on a conference call with reporters.
"Many will ask, why now? Why, with several primaries still remaining, with Senator Clinton just winning Pennsylvania, with my friend Evan Bayh working hard to make sure Senator Clinton wins Indiana, why switch now? Why call for super delegates to come together now to constructively pick a president?" said Andrew in a letter released Thursday.
"The simple answer is that while the timing is hard for me personally, it is best for America. We simply cannot wait any longer, nor can we let this race fall any lower and still hope to win in November. June or July may be too late. The time to act is now."
The Indiana superdelegate served as party chairman from 1999 through 2001. He had endorsed Hillary Clinton last year, on the day she officially announced her White House bid.
With the switch, Clinton's lead over Obama among the party's superdelegates stands at 19.
