Double Digit Doubts

Zogby polling agency, often thought of as a ‘republican poll’ because it is so often quoted by conservative commentators, issued the following yesterday:

“UTICA, New York – Democrat Barack Obama has sprinted out to a 10-point lead over Republican John McCain in a four-way presidential contest including Libertarian Bob Barr and Liberal Ralph Nader, the latest Reuters/Zogby telephone poll of likely voters nationwide shows.”

Obama leads 47% to 37% nationwide according to the poll. He leads in every region except the Midwest where the race is currently a dead heat. He leads in every age group except voters over 65 years of age.

Of course, Restore the Republic said months ago that it did not bode well for the general election that McCain was consistently declared ‘the winner’ in GOP primaries where he only got 30 - 40% of the vote. He is a GOP nominee that couldn’t get the majority of his own party’s votes in states where he was contested. No wonder he can do no better when the Democrat voters are thrown into the mix.
