Justices for All
The successful nominations of Chief Justice John Roberts, and Justice Samuel Alito appear to be the two greatest successes of the Bush presidency. For those nominations and the successful shepherding of them through their confirmation hearings, President Bush must be given both credit and thanks.

This is a big point and one of the main reasons last elections that I was so adamant that he win. The next couple of justices to step down will be liberal judges that even if replaced with Liberals won't skew the court. Both of Roberts and Altio are constitutionalist which is the way judges should rule.
And, given the advanced age of some of the liberals on the court - this year's upcoming election will be equally critical. The thought of Clinton or Obama being able to appoint judges sends shivers up my spine. I am very much in favor of seeing the Court "skew" towards more constitutionalists!
Ditto -- could you imagine Bill Clinton on the supreme court? There was an article just the other day mentioning Edwards for the court. Crazy!
